Poges : A 27 hole championship golf course
As well as being a challenging
and demanding course you will find it hard not to be stirred by
the exquisite views and landscapes of the Club's championship
course known as Stoke Poges. The club's true 27 hole course is
made up of the three nine hole courses Colt, Alison and Jackson.
The 27 hole championship
parkland golf course was designed in 1908 by Harry Shapland Colt
around the Grade I listed mansion. The club's signature hole,
the seventh, was the main winter project for the course. The
inspiration for Augusta National's notorious twelth was
remodelled between January and March, culminating in the
creation of an expansive lake and waterfall.
In 1996, Stoke Poges was
awarded the prestigious "Golf Club of the Year" award.
In April 2003, Golf Monthly voted the Club as having "The
Top Clubhouse in the UK" and in September 2003, Golf World
listed it as being one of the "Top Ten Golf and Spa Resorts
around the World". - In September 2004, Condé Nast
Traveller has listed Stoke Park Club as one of the "Best
Three Places to Stay and Play Golf in the UK".
