True small tropical paradise, the Sainte-Marie island is rich in history and discoveries.

Old reference mark of hackers in XVIIe century, the island kept all its magic and all its heart.

It still a authentic island, with the vegetation luxuriant and occupied by many small villages of fishermen to the way of life traditional and secular.

Preserved by its situation, this island of the "end of the world" at a magic side.
The sites and the poles of interest that you do not miss: deserted ranges, the island with the Plaits, the cemetery of the hackers, the forest of Ampanihy and its mangrove, annual migration of the humpback whales, paradisiacal small islands.

 

The Sainte-Marie island is accessible by plane, regular connection Air Madagascar: 

• 1 hour away from Antananarivo (capital of Madagascar)
• 30 minutes away from Tamatave (principal city of the East coast).

You can also join the lodge in a private aircraft from the airport of your choice in Madagascar.

Other option to get there is by boat from Soaniera-Ivongo (in the north of Tamatave, facing Sainte-Marie island) or Tamatave. However, the air route is recommended.

The team of the Princesse Bora Lodge will deal with you as soon you as arrive on the island.
They will transport you by zebu cart to the lodge, expatriation assured!

Practical information

A minimum stay of 1 week is strongly recommended to visit the Island. 2 Weeks will give the time to enjoy your stay.

Some dates:

• June-October: whales time.

• September-December: dream time.

• January-March: austral summer.

• April-June: austral autumn nice period usually warm and shiny.
